Hello!
Thanks for your interest in Allura. Of course you're welcome to contribute in
any way you find engaging, but since you are looking for recommendations... :)
Overall Allura is fairly stable, a lot of development is maintenance, but new
improvements are welcome too - just nothing too groundbreaking.
If you haven't already, going through the installation process would be good to
get familiar with the basic operations. In that area, our Dockerfile could be
updated to newer Ubuntu and probably streamlined some too.
You can look at our tickets https://forge-allura.apache.org/p/allura/tickets/
but to be honest many of them are pretty old. So some not as relevant as others
still.
Feel free to ask about any specific tickets or ideas that seem interesting to
you

Hello everyone,
My name is Ashok Gadiparthi, and I am a Senior Data Architect and
open-source contributor with extensive experience in designing and
implementing large-scale, cloud-native data platforms and intelligent web
applications.
I recently explored Apache Allura's architecture and find its mission to
provide a fully integrated open-source forge platform extremely inspiring.
I'm particularly interested in contributing across multiple areas including
backend improvements, data integration, API design, analytics
instrumentation, and modernization of the web and UI components.
My background spans Java, Python, Spring Boot, Angular, TypeScript,
Firebase, Kafka, BigQuery, GCP, and Terraform, along with AI-based
solutions for monitoring and automation. I have also built production-grade
systems combining scalable backend services with responsive front-end
frameworks, and I enjoy working on projects that bridge data engineering
with user experience.
I would appreciate your guidance on how best to get started whether by
taking up an open issue, reviewing documentation gaps, or contributing to
ongoing architectural or UI enhancements.

Thank you for maintaining such an impactful open-source project. I look
forward to contributing and collaborating with the Apache Allura community.
Best regards,
