Sumit Mohanty commented on AMBARI-10834:
----------------------------------------

[~harisekhon], see AMBARI-10029, that got committed couple of days back. The
eventual goal is to allow re-start even when the agents cannot talk to server
by locally storing state.

> Restart services automatically after a node reboot

> When a node reboots for any reason Ambari does not automatically restart the
> services on that node after it comes back up.
> I think it would be beneficial for the services on that node to be
> auto-restarted, equivalent to if they were locally controlled via init
> scripts.
> This could be done via Ambari server re-issuing the start commands if last
> state was started when the agent comes back in to contact if services are
> down (the agent is actually auto-started on boot since it's an init script)
> or the agent itself could maintain the last requested state locally in state
> files and ensure that the services are restarted if they are down during
> periodic process checks.
