In my understanding, this number is chosen for showing the following things to users explicitly: * This is the first independent release from Ambari itself * It's incompatible with the past releases * Ambari and Ambari Metrics have a different release cycle hereafter It was discussed [1] and [2], and we didn't see any strong objection. > did we give prior release? I don't think we should fix the roadmap of Ambari Metrics before this release. As I mentioned above, this is the first independent release as Ambari Metrics, so it's difficult to determine its development direction before using it enough. It would be better that we release it first, then receive feedback from users and ourselves, and discuss the roadmap based on them. Otherwise, such a discussion will be abstract and take so long time that it can kill our development momentum.
