Thanks for the elaboration, this sounds like great work. A highlighter that overlays on the dom seems preferable in many situations. Is/will your implementation be available as a module? Note that we are not at all attached to our current highlighter implementation. We mainly included it in this repository in an attempt to be helpful to users that just want *some* way to visualise a range of text. But highlighting, and UI stuff in general, seems like something that has so many trade-offs (and entanglements with UI frameworks) that we better remain mostly unopinionated about it, and instead we could make it easy for users to mix and match our modules with any third party modules that fit their needs — including perhaps yours?
