There have been quite a few changes to UnknownElement and friends as well as the way the project is parsed in CVS HEAD and what you see here is probably related to those changes. I thought getReferences would return some smart Hashtable that would create objects on the fly when you used the get methods, but maybe I was wrong. This is one of a couple of bugs still lurking in the refactored core - and we certainly will have to straighten that out before doing any 1.6 related release.
