The problem is, that there are many file properties you could store: size, last 
modified timestamp, created tstmp, (there was another tstamp), owner, group, 
readable, writeable, suffix, name, directory, ....

And that only for ONE file. Now think about fileset ...

But using <script> you can do what you want. Last year I posted a solution on 
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=ant-user&m=105393627611631&w=2. With Ant 1.6 
and its <scriptdef> I would change that a little bit (the old solution needs a 
special named fileset, with scriptdef you can use a nested one).
