Summary: Would like an additional startAnt method in Main
           Product: Ant
           Version: 1.7.0
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Core
        AssignedTo: dev@ant.apache.org
        ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

We are currently incorporating ant into the installation process of our
product. The product uses the InstallShield framework as a base, but we are
delegating parts of the actual installation to ant. To do this we need to
launch ant in process from the install program, however, the current
implementation of the Main.startAnt method does not allow this, as it invokes
a System.exit following completion. This terminates the entire process. For
now we have altered Main and subclassed it, overriding the startAnt method and
removing the calls to System.exit. An additional startAnt method in Main
which does not invoke System.exit would give us the ability to launch ant in
process and then continue with the rest of the installation process.
