Not completely sure, but most likely I'd download the five distributions
in question and re-package the docs subdirectory. Worst case I'd check
out the svn tags, copy over the (then modified) build.xml from trunk and
create the archives.
I am fine with it as long as the release does not require also
sandboxes of the previous versions on the computer of the person doing
the release.
Well, "the person" would be me anyway 8-)
Just to be clear, this would be a one-time thing to create the docs for
older releases. Future releases would work the same way as today but
create a few more artifacts and require one more symlink.
