I would suggest you to install Hadoop on your system and then try out running demo apps using Apache Apex. Using the dtcli utility you can run demo apps. All the steps are documented on http://docs.Datatorrent.com. Soon this will be moved under Apache Apex pages. Moreover go through the documentation to understand basics of Apex. You can go through webinar by Ram on writing your first Apex program. That will get you started. There is detailed documentation for this too. You are also encouraged to join meetup and attend them. You can interact with people who are part of this community. If you are in Pune, drop in to our office for casual interaction. Also feel free to ask anything on this mailing list.
