Hi Michael,
i would like to thank you for your work and contributions in the past.
Especially for the api project. I hope that you will maybe come back to
the community as an active developer some time in the future.
You are one of the pioneers of the OO API and the discussions with you
were always interesting and helpful.
I wish you the very best for your future challenges and that you will
find a satisfying new activity.

Dear OOo API users,
Many years ago the main developer of a well known software project
resigned not only from his position but also from his profession. He
wanted to stay away from software engineering for a while and took a job
in his former profession, which was not even computer related. At the
time I did not understand him.
Now, I see myself in a pretty similar situation. I am sensing very
strongly that I need to get completely out of the environment I worked
most of my professional life time. This seems to be neccessary for me to
be free for new targets of my life.
Some of you might have already expected it, also because I have been
very inactive in the last weeks: Thus I am finally resigning from my
position as the API and even as an active OOo developer.
For those colleagues who took over my tasks like the OOoBean or even older
code like the"beloved" SfxPollItems, I will be still available for
questions. I also will remain a dedicated OOo user of course, and an OOo
evangelist. Mostly for very egoistic reasons, I have no idea how to use
MS-Office ;-)
By my opinion Jrgen Schmidt, currently CoLead of the API project,
will be the best choice for the new API project lead. Therefore I
strongly suggesed to the projet leads to vote for him!
I hope the very best for this great and important OSS project.
Michael
