Hi there,

as some of you may know, I have been working on adding ooRexx (Open Object Rexx, <http://www.ooRexx.org>) to OpenOffice/StarOffice. This work has been tested by differnt students, who use the developed infrastructure to explore the possibilities automating OOo allows for, testing the ooRexx infrastructure.

As of the end of last week the following URL introduces and demonstrates, how one can start ooRexx macros from within OpenOffice.org/StarOffice, supplying nutshell examples, which should be easily adaptable to other OOo scripting languages as well (the work of Mr. Ahammer on that site shows how one can script OOo/SO with ooRexx from the command line).
There are a few other students who work on creating snippets and nutshell examples for OOo/SO.

It is planned to create a "general availability" (GA) version of the ooRexx support for OOo in the weeks to come and to announce that version officially, then.

Please feel free, if you have any questions about this technology or have any kind of feedback.

Regards,
