Hi Matthias,

Something I don't understand is, if I need a x server or not. I searched the
archives from several sub projects: gls, udk and xml, but I can't find a answer
that fit to 100%.

Somewhere I read I can install a virtual x server, instead a complete x server. But I
don't want to do that either. I think the only possiblity is to use a x server or a
virtual x server. But use absolutly nothing about "x" is not possible. Is that
correct?

this was discussed some months ago. Due to that time you are right -
there is no way to avoid a virtual xserver or a complete xserver.

yes, that is correct but (probably some of you will throw some evil eyes in direction of Sun) you can buy a StarOffice server edition where no xserver is necessary. The server edition provides some more features necessary for a stable usage in a server scenario (maintenance of several office processes, load balancer, soap interface, ...). It's a modular concept and can be adapted to different needs. Typical use cases are document conversion, creation, printing, .... You can contact me directly and i will forward you to the right contact inside Sun.

Sorry for this kind of ad but even buying StarOffice/StarOffice Server is more or less a direct support/sponsoring of OpenOffice ;-)
