I have done a few more experiments with drop-down boxes and have an
impression that when I am selecting a list item, just nothing happens:
neither a dispatch is executed, nor any useful events are generated.
However, anything starts working if I change the control type to
combo-box. As a temporary workaround I decided to use a combo-box
in my toolbar, but I am not quite happy with this solution, as it is
not desired in my case to allow users to input an arbitrary text into
the control.

Well, I understand anybody can edit a wiki article... I just supposed
that document has a more or less official status, and thus it would
be better if it is edited only by the responsible developer. And,
of course, I am just not aware which currently supported possibilities
are considered stable and which may change in future (so that it would
be bad idea to document them right now).
