Hi,
unfortunately, the plugin is not yet available in the NB 6 update
center. Since the update center is the only "official" way to get it, it
is currently only available for NB 5.5 and 5.5.1. Stay tuned, we will
announce it when it is available for NB 6.
So the only way right now to use the plugin in NB 6 is indeed to check
it out and build it (it's a NB project, so that is easy).
Note that the versions are tagged. When you download the latest version,
it will be work in progress and not all functionality may be available.
