The rest of what you sent is interesting, but for now I'll have to file it for later. This, though, answered the main question: I'll avoid the API as much as I can. There will be a time when I'll be using OOo for a lot more writing and when that happens, I'll have to write some macros in OOo BASIC, but until then, I'll avoid it. I just never understood why they couldn't make more things work by calling UNO commands. Thanks for such a quick answer!
