(1) I would add a main page, listing all examples and linking each
example to its page, where the example is discussed (see above). The main
page should be referenced from the main page of the DevGuide Wiki
(http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/DevGuide/OpenOffi
ce.o rg_Developers_Guide)
mmh, i think that is partly done with dynamic page lists. We can add a
new category for DevGuide examples if necessary. And of course we can
link it from the DevGuide but that should be done from every single code
snippet
Maybe one category will not be enough. As I understand you, there should be
examples in different languages -- and possibly some examples in more than
one language each.
we have different categories and yes we should use different categories
to easy group examples

And of course the work needs to be done. I will focus on NB for example
and if others would like to contribute Eclipse or other project thats
fine. Just do it.
You are not quite fair. I have to earn a living and I am not payed by SUN (nor
IBM), so my time to spend on OOo in general and on Eclipse with OOo in
particular is limited.
well i spent a lot of time in my sparetime as well. But it is
independent of an employment. You can or should do what you can. Maybe
people who are employed by one of the OO.org supporting companies can do
more and that's fine. But every single contribution is important and
helpful.
However, I think I begin to understand your point. SUN will (only) support NB
so one should always be able to successfully use it for OOo development.
well it's not Sun specific, it's me because i like NB ...
There is an Eclipse plugin for OOo development, but I don't know how well it
is maintained nor whether it has every functionality that is reasonable and
desirable. My first attempts to use it failed -- it does not even accept the
3.0.1 OOo release (standard installation) in its SDK configuration.

I hope I didn't write too much. I am looking forward to any comments.
no, i think it's good to see that people think about improvements.
So where do we stand now? I am working through the DevGuide Wiki and offered
my help to improve it as far as the discussion of examples is concerned. This
offer still stands.
I was referred to dev and dev-api to discuss this. As a result I am not so
sure about what is best. Ariel pointed out that "...the SDK
Java examples because they are *very* unmantained, and some of them have
serious issues..." He also suggested that one should wait with work on the
Wiki until he finished his work on the NB projects. Maybe this is the right
way.
yes, i think that is a good approach. If there are serious issues in the
examples then they should be communicated. Issues get fixed. But in
general i would agree that the examples can be improved and that was one
of the main reasons for creating the NB projects and make it easier ...
But again it's a lot of work and often other todo's have higher
priorities. Help is appreciated ... You can start on the wiki example
pages for exmaple
