I am stuck working in Thailand, and have been trying to install OOO on
a friend's laptop.
The Linux distro that was most compatible with her ancient Vaio was PCLOS.

But the "Get Open Office" module has been running now for THREE DAYS...
at 1200-2200 bps (that is BYTES, not kilbytes!). This is thanks to a
.NL server it is locked into.
Finally it looked like it finished but THEN says it needs URE at
174mb, and THIS will ake 3 more days!
I tried on my newer laptop and the speed is the same, despite getting
avg 423kbps elsewhere
to/from Europe and USA... so this server is obviously overtaxed.

QUESTION: Can I just download this somewhere and stuff it in the APT cache?
I checked http://download.openoffice.org/2.4.0/ure.html but the page
is not clear to me.
That is diplomacy on my part. :)

DETAILS: The target says OOO 1.4, but that does not exist? The files
in apt cache, however
are all OOO 1.3x. What the download is afternow says:
"openoffice.org-ure 1.51-94"

We have a good national mirror here with all linux flavors AND ope office repos,
but I am presuming this PCLOS method might need a specific set instead
of a single RPM.

Thanks a HEAP in advance
