That's one way, but there are several others as well. they can rename to be 
something else or make it very clear that are not part of the ASF project. I 
suggest you take a look at the branding guidelines. [2][3] Note in particular 
[4][5].

No there's need to delete them.

If your master branch contains the last voted on released code then yes. If it 
contain unreleased code then no. It could however be provided to developers of 
the project but not to users.
