Hi, folks,

Now that the CFP is open for both ApacheCon @Home 2021, and ApacheCon
Asia 2021 (see www.apachecon.com) I wanted to share with you a lovely
new way of promoting these events on your (project) websites.

TL;DR:

Add the following to your website:

<script type="text/javascript"
src="https://www.apachecon.com/event-images/snippet.js";></script>
<a class="acevent"></a>

Longer version:

Daniel Gruno has provided us with a new system for adding ApacheCon
"ads" to your project website. This is documented more completely at

https://www.apachecon.com/event-images/

You can choose image style (light/dark) shape (wide/square) and specify
a particular event if you desire.

This is an upgrade over the old way to do this:
http://apache.org/events/README.txt - giving you a lot more flexibility
to fit into your site's overall design.

With this one change to your site, you ensure that you will always have
a link to the upcoming Apachecon, when there is one, and to a general
events website when there's no Apachecon event in flight.

This is also a good time to mention this page:

https://whimsy.apache.org/site.cgi/

That verifies that your project site adheres to various *recommended*
website practices, which give the world a more uniform experience across
all of our project websites.
