That is not true. You can get the latest GNU awk version for
Win32 as a 500KB download:
ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/gnu/djgpp/v2gnu/gwk306b.zip
The last time I used Perl for Win32 (3 years ago or so), it
was already at 3MB.
