The reason for asking explitly for nominees now is that I could not find anything like a 'deadline' or some other discriminatory element in the past postings. It would be unfair to simply 'close' the nomination list at some arbitrary point in time which was not pre-announced clearly ahead of time as part of a timeline. Should there be a better/easier way to do this for future elections - it may make sense to edit the file pmc-email-ballot-example.txt in the foundation/Ballots cvs repository with suggestions. Also note that the STATUS file needs someone with CVS access to update it. A potential chair nominee/canidate may not have such access or something may be dropped by accident by those acting as a gate to the STATUS file. Dw
