Why? This change does not introduce a dependency - it merely takes advantage of it if it needs to and it is available.
What I'm afraid of is that people will see that we're using 'aclocal' and assume that we're comfortable with using automake and start submitting patches because automake can do this fancy feature X and we don't support it.
At this point, I want nothing at all to do with automake. -- justin
