Yup.  serf inherits some of the concepts from httpd 2.x's bucket
brigades and libwww-ada95's Onion, but the implementation is
different.  Most of those early design decisions happened back on the
original apr serf-dev list and at ACs.

And, when you're already buying into APR, serf comes along for very
cheaply - in comparison to libcurl which doesn't hide the platform
very well...  -- justin
