(I forgot the "return NULL" in the earlier patch, but sent a correction right after).
mysql_init allocates memory from mysqlclient's heap. What will happen it somebody opens many mysql connections, of which some constantly fail in mysql_real_connect (because of insufficient permissions for example). mysqlclient's heap will slowly grow because of all these temporary MYSQL objects never being reclaimed. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
