IDEs are more or less ok. me + the patch contributor tried in netbeans.
The format of the index is different, so you have to re-index everything.
scanning the local repo is without external relationships and the
downloaded bits from central (or elsewhere reasonably recent I guess)
the download format is not lucene based and is only converted locally
to lucene.
