Press CTRL-Delete, not Delete!
BTW: The screenshot is from a very old version of ArgoUML. At that time,
there were still bugs now and then that the explorer tree at the left just
did not update - i.e. the modelelement was deleted, but the tree structure
not recalculated correctly. Maybe that causes the effect you get. Save and
reload always restored the tree to the correct situation.

On the left you have the model elements, and in the right pane you
have the diagrams.
If you delete an element in the model, it deletes also from the
diagrams, but not the opposite operation.
