I'm happy with that as long as we hold the announcement for a day or two to allow a sanity check of the kit. On the other hand, I just saw an announcement asking users to help with beta testing, so there's probably going to be some confusion about what exactly we are asking. We really need to request testing help at a point in the schedule where it can make a difference. It's going to be very unsatisfy to users to do a bunch of testing and report a bug only to be told "Sorry, we're in regressions-only mode now. That'll have to wait for the next release." Now we're between a rock and a hard place. We have to either tell them not to bother testing or we need to extend the schedule for a week or more to show that we respect their testing efforts. On the whole, I think the first choice is the lesser of two evils right now.
