I can immediately conclude that I cannot do the Gentoo since I don't have a
Gentoo system. Let's hope someone else might pick this up.

Great thing about the livecd is, that you don't have to install
anything and there 0 risc of damaging your current installation.
When the cd is ejected, your desktop is exactly the same as before
the Argo start.

I remember this project. I think some of the Gentoo ebuilds are based
on them. Which means, those ebuild are rather outdated, too. But
updating them shouldn't pose a big problem to me.

My livecds are based on the Gentoo catalyst project. It's really not
a big issue to convert the settings to an Argo cd. It just some
work to find a working combination of all the packages for the cd.
And it takes some time to compile the entire cd (maybe a week, or so,
if all the caches are empty).
I'm willing to contribute most of the required files, if you are
interested and to create a prototype.
