I do not understand the problem with the poor quality of the GIF.
Maybe it is the low number of colours?
Anyhow, using a JPG is not a good idea for screenshots, due to the lossy
compression. A far better choice would be PNG then.
If others agree with the greenish colours, then that's fine by me.

Michiel, you're right that some new features are visible on it. I fear the
tabs must be in 2 lines, otherwise the image will be too wide. The colors
are from Win XP with highest resolution. I'll reduce resolution and try
again, but I like the colors because they fit well to the homepage.

This is a great idea!
I see some new features, and a bug fix. The size of the gif is a bit
larger,
but I guess that will still fit.
The readability is better even than the previous screenshot - I do not
know
why Linus contradicts this.
The tabs in the details pane are on 2 lines - maybe you can try if it fits
on one line - that looks so much nicer.
About the colors: Are these the default colours on Vista? Since IMHO the
looks should be either the XP look, like before, or the default Vista
look.
