All I have seen written about the users wiki (which includes the forums) is that they are by the users for the users.
So I haven't paid it too much attention. So long as one of those users then brings issues into any of the tools that are under ArgoUML ownership then I don't mind that such third party sites are around. But I'm not likely to be active there so by suggesting users do not use the argouml mailing list means that I am likely to miss their questions directly. I would like to see all our mailing lists become more like forums with email notification and I'm very much looking forward to a developers wiki. As far as suggesting users come to the IRC channel I don't think thats a good idea for my own personal perspective. I tend to hang around there so am available to answer questions to anyone who prompts me. That is usually one of our students or another developer and I will usually spare the time to help when I can. If I find I am getting asked questions on usability about parts of ArgoUML to which I have no knowledge I think I'm likely to find this annoying. So the loss would be to the other devs and students if I'm not around there so often. A second IRC channel for users may be an option and we'll see how popular it becomes. I'm willing to try it out and see how it disturbs my time sitting there and our current channel. However I'd like to back out and go back to a pure dev channel if I feel I need to do so and there I can continue to support other devs and students. I think users should be encouraged to keep to our official argouml owned mediums. If they choose to use third party forums also then that's their choice but they risk getting less immediate attention from people such as myself.
