Does it make sense to do these sequentially instead of in parallel? Are they both at the same level of maturity? Do the two of you have the bandwidth to be able to work both of them in parallel?
As I understand it, the XML property panels are principally a refactoring to make it easier for us to port to UML 2.x and/or SWT. As such, I'd have thought they were less pressing to get integrated for end user use (although perhaps there's a benefit to getting it integrated into the trunk of the source repository so that it starts getting maintained/refactored in parallel with the current implementation). On the other hand, to get significant user testing of sequence2 by knowledgeable users (ie the current users of sequence1), we need to have a way to get their work converted. I'd suggest you guys a) choose one subsystem to focus on first and b) do the integration in such a way that developers can compare the new and old implementations (and switch back if need be).
