In my index2.html, I have included the new code for the new ga.js. I have
been testing the page using /nonav/ to avoid it loading urchin.js from
project_tools.html. My first test was to change the wording of the tracking
links for the downloads, then to see if the new wording was correctly listed
in the google analytics page. According to google, it takes 12-48 hours for
any new information to appear in the tracking stats.

My aim was actually to make all of the downloads track as though they had
come directly from argouml-downloads. The ga.js specifically allows tracking
of multiple sub domains on one project, so I intend to use this.

Ok, could you tell me where it is? I updated all of the project_tools.html
files some time ago, and wasn't aware of the update script then... perhaps it
is a new thing.

I think it is only worth spending time tracking things we want to see
statistics for. If there are direct downloads on the users' wiki or forum,
then yes, we should probably track them, to get better overall statistics of
how many downloads there have been. The only thing to consider here, is that
it *might* be useful one day to know what proportion of the total downloads
come from the users' wiki. If we update the analytics to track them in
exactly the same way, then it may be that we won't be able to find this
information. Or perhaps there is some way to see the referrer page for a
download; I haven't found out yet. Either way, I don't think this is a big
problem.

One other question: Is there a reason why the download tracking links contain
the text /DOWNLOAD/, even though this is not actually part of the url for any
of the downloads?

Regards,

Dave
