Note that I may have made the issue seem less extreme than it is.

When I said
CreateObjectAction, CallBehaviourAction and DestroyObjectAction are
all rounded rectangles

Those are the only 3 Action nodes that I have placed on the activity
diagram so far. My work is by no means complete in adding the rest.

If you look at the Action interface in UML2 you'll find that there are
over 40 concrete classes that implement that interface.

I'm not sure if all of those are appropriate for activity diagrams,
I'm still just picking things up as a I go along.

But assuming we only need half of these then can we really describe
each one of these adequately with a small icon?
