I think 2 stable releases a year is reasonable. It demonstrate our live state to the community. There are other defects being fixed and some small new features as well as UML2 work. The way Linus did the release last time was sensible with less impact on further development. Linus - there hasn't been an update of the calendar yet for dev releases or alpha.
