That style of comments are instructions to the javadoc generator. I assume
that someone at some point thought that it would be nice if the javadoc
could be provided with information on the underlying model and do some nice
trick.
I also assume that the necessary model-aware plug-in into javadoc was
either never developed or lost. Without it I guess javadoc will generate an
error message.
If there is still someone out there who thinks it is still a good idea to
develop such a javadoc plug-in I can accept the error message. If noone has
that vision, it is better to remove this code or change it to a regular
comment.
In any case, Java5-style annotation are more powerful and built into the
compiler so that might be considered a better solution to this.
