This seems neatest - and easiest, which is a bonus. :) It still has the advantage that we'll obliterate short-form JNDI lookup of the original javax.sql.XADatasource, but long-form lookup will still be available. It's also hard to imagine many use cases in which users will be looking up the datasource using JNDI and expecting a javax.sql.XADatasource to come back.
