These are not Arrow community discussions from a governance / project decision-making perspective (those need to happen here or JIRA or GitHub -- "mailing list or it didn't happen"), but I don't have any problem with the logs being published publicly. I don't think Zulip offers a live public view like Spectrum or Gitter.
The objective of trying out Zulip here was to have an cost-free open and public alternative to 1-on-1 Google chats or e-mail for our team and our collaborators (e.g. Uwe -- who works for a different company -- and I often use Google Hangouts to touch base or coordinate about time sensitive issues like failing builds). The content of these chats is usually mundane things like "Hey, do you see the failing build and do you know what's wrong?". Many organizations have chat rooms and I wanted ours to be open to anyone. - Wes On Tue, Jan 8, 2019 at 1:40 PM Jason Grout <[email protected]> wrote: > > I'm curious: are the discussions (either live or as logs) going to be > public? > > Jason > > > On Tue, Jan 8, 2019 at 10:08 AM Wes McKinney <[email protected]> wrote: > > > On Tue, Jan 8, 2019 at 11:48 AM Enrico Olivelli <[email protected]> > > wrote: > > > > > > Il mar 8 gen 2019, 18:23 Wes McKinney <[email protected]> ha scritto: > > > > > > > hi folks, > > > > > > > > The kind folks at https://zulipchat.com/ have offered free hosting to > > > > our not-for-profit organization Ursa Labs > > > > > > > > https://ursalabs.zulipchat.com > > > > > > > > The Arrow developer mailing list is the primary mode of communication > > > > for development work and project governance, but we may set up various > > > > automated notifications and help stay organized and on top of things > > > > (failing builds, and anything time sensitive / procedural).
