Hello,
The Plasma object store (*) hasn't received significant maintenance
since at least 2020. The original authors have stopped contributing to
the Arrow community and instead forked their own code for internal use
inside another project
(https://github.com/ray-project/ray/tree/master/src/ray/object_manager/plasma).
Unless anyone is willing to maintain and evolve Plasma, I propose that
we formally deprecate it in Arrow 10.0.0, and remove it perhaps in a
couple versions (for example 12.0.0). This concerns the C++ Plasma
subproject, and also the corresponding bindings in other languages (such
as Python and Java/JNI).
