So, I can replicate the issue by using a Debian 14 forky image but after doing a bunch of searching and research it looks like this is a known issue with leak sanitizer on Debian Forky (specifically, it seems to be with the version of gcc/glibc) rather than an issue in the arrow-go code. Running under Debian 13 trixie instead, everything works fine. The difference between the two is:
trixie -> gcc version 14.2.0, glibc 2.41 forky -> gcc version 15.2.0, glibc 2.42 Judging from everything I'm seeing, gcc-15 is considered testing/unstable (i.e. forky/sid) on Debian rather than stable. I also came across this: https://github.com/golang/go/issues/74476 so it seems that the sanitizers ALWAYS fail on glibc 2.42. Ultimately, I don't think this is a blocker for the release.
