Oops.  :-)

I meant we'll be depracating AQL, but AQL+ will work. SQL++ is the future...

We'll be deprecating SQL++ (but AQL+ will work under the hood still) - that's the current plan.

As for our JVM support, I guess we need to be explicit on the Apache website.

I also agree with what Till. Also, regarding comparability, user care more

will both be supported by asterixdb, with full aspects of asterxdb.

Yes. What Till says is correct. So, a user has a freedom to choose whatever
Java version.

I think that it’s not a macOS issue.
AFAIK Apple stopped shipping the JRE with OS X 10.7, so the JRE/JDK
installation should be done by the user.

It seems to be more of a documentation issue (at least until Java 8 is
EOL).

Till

So this UW student's Mac is ahead of our OSX level - dev thoughts on what
should the "do this" advice should be back to the affected student...?
(There might be others as well - not sure how many folks will be on High
Sierra.) We need to get them back on track. And then figure out the Java
9 story, I guess! I guess all of our Mac users (of which we have many) are
on older versions. (I am still back on El Crapitan. :-))

Cheers,

Java 9 doesn't work at all for some reason, Mike B found this out and

We’re only testing AsterixDB on Java 8, so running on Java 9 is

Here it seems that a class is missing from the class path. This class
is probably available in JRE 9, but maybe not on the default class path.
Somebody with more Java 9 exposure than I had would probably know ...

*AsteriskDB installation or startup problem* /11/02/17 11:52 PM/

I can't get AsteriskDB to run on my MacBook Pro running High Sierra;
java --version says:
java 9.0.1
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 9.0.1+11)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 9.0.1+11, mixed mode)

When I run the start script, I get this:
INFO: Waiting up to 30 seconds for cluster 127.0.0.1:19002 to be
available.
INFO: Cluster 127.0.0.1:19002 was not available before timeout of 30

In cc.log, I see this:
