I haven't seen any replies here - sorry about that! Here is one
potentially useful information resource:

The first thing you should do is take the introductory tour - download
the nightly build or the most recent release
(https://asterixdb.apache.org/download.html) and then try running
through the little set of exercises at
https://asterixdb.apache.org/docs/0.9.9/sqlpp/primer-sqlpp.html.

Hi Team,
My name is Abdelrahman Mostafa. I am a final-year Computer Science and
Engineering student from Egypt, and I’m interested in contributing to
AsterixDB for GSoC.
I’m particularly interested in the Top-K Nearest Queries Support project. I
have experience with Java, databases, and backend development.
I would like to start exploring the codebase and contributing, but I
couldn’t find a contribution guide in the GitHub repository. Could you
please suggest where to begin or recommend any starter issues or tasks that
would help me get familiar with the system?
Thank you for your time and guidance.
Best regards,
Abdelrahman Mostafa
