Hi Apache AsterixDB Community,
My name is Tejesh Sakhamuri, and I am a sophomore student at the Indian
Institute of Information Technology Bhopal. I have a strong interest in the
*"*Apache AsterixDB Top-k Nearest Queries*"* project for Google Summer of
Code 2026.
I have a strong programming foundation in C, C++, and Java. While I am
new to large-scale open-source contributions, I am highly motivated to
learn and very excited about the challenge of working with query
optimization in AsterixDB. I am currently spending my time getting familiar
with the concepts behind the query engine(Hyracks). Since I am still in the
early stages of understanding the codebase and formulating an approach, I
wanted to reach out and introduce myself to the community.
Could you please suggest some useful resources, including the
documentation that I should read first?
Are there any specific design documents that I should look at regarding how
spatial data and Top-k queries are currently handled in AsterixDB?
I am eager to learn and look forward to getting involved with the
community. Thank you for your time.
Best regards,
Tejesh Sakhamuri
