Should we remove obelix form the POMs? It seems to me that everybody
who’s developing anyway has Hyracks and AsterixDB locally and everybody
else should get it from maven central once the next release is out.

Thoughts?

Hm, yeah really we don't (and can't?) store anything there at the moment, so offline mode should be a work-around. I have gotten the issue you have been describing before but it was always related to the connection sticking
open, and it was always my connection that caused it.

Do you actually need anything from obelix?
If you have everything locally, you can just run “mvn -o” and be much
faster :)
(Ok, this is not a solution to the hanging, but it might make life better.)

Not lately. What seems to happen? Obelix is the same as the build machine.
