The hive_storagedesc for the table had the location value "hdfs://localhost:8020/apps/hive/warehouse/employee" . Selected type as hive_storagedesc , and applied filter {code} Location = hdfs\://localhost\:8020/apps/hive/warehouse/employee {code} which listed the storage descriptor of employee table Selected type as hive_storagedesc and applied "contains" filter {code} Location contains /apps/hive/warehouse/employee {code} The above query didn't fetch any result .The same applies for ends with , begins with operators. Hence "/" works with "=" operator but not with others.
