I also tried Sarath's patch on top of today's master, with only the mvn commands listed in the review request. I've added comments there, but in summary it didn't work for me. Though atlas built and appeared to start, it didn't do so properly, and I'm seeing a continual stream of errors in application.log. This includes a zookeeper error every 1s, and also other errors, crucially including losing connection with hbase Aside: On David's mention of upgrading Java 8 b101 to b152 - we could be more precise in the patch proposed in ATLAS-2245 if desired (see https://maven.apache.org/enforcer/enforcer-rules/requireJavaVersion.html ). Whilst too many prereqs can cause issues. making it easier for people to know they are in a good dev environment is a good thing IMO.
