Emilia,

In a production deployment, Atlas should be configured to authenticate with one
or more of the following:
  - Kerberos
  - LDAP like Active Directory
  - PAM authentication

In such a configuration, there is no needed to update Atlas of any changes to
users or user groups.

For use in dev/test environments, Atlas supports file-based authentication. In
this configuration, Atlas authenticates users with details in a file. Details
of this file format can be found at http://atlas.apache.org/#/Authentication.
There are no APIs though to manage users and their group association. This file
needs to be updated outside Atlas server; and changes would require restarting
Atlas.

Hope this helps.

    Hello Emilia,
I am sorry I am not sure of the answer - I have copied the Atlas dev list
as I am sure there is someone there who knows the answer :)
    All the best
