No, no : I almost was silent for one week, but noticed the change. Notice how I posted to the right address ;-)

I cannot lock the directory for checkout :
cvs server: failed to create lock directory for `/home/cvs/avalon-site' (/home/cvs/avalon-site/#cvs.lock): Permission denied
cvs server: failed to obtain dir lock in repository `/home/cvs/avalon-site'

yep. As part of the recent restructuring, brian set up the avalon group to actually be used and mean something. You now need to use that in order to be able to get at cvs. This is similar to the situation where a jakarta committer cannot access /home/cvs/xml-* but has to use anoncvs instead.
