component should not need altrmi to build. Altrmi is only required by

Could you confirm or correct the following assumptions:
1. the instrument package is independent
2. the instrument manager build is currently dependent on AltRMI
but could be generated as two seperate jars with AltRMI transport
as an optional target based o AltRMI availability
4. instrument client is currently dependent on AltRMI
And finally, some specualtion type questions:
1. is it possible to run instrument, manager, and client in the
same vm without AltRMI?
2. and if not - is this something achievable?
