Excalibur Datasource

can someone point me at or provide some code that utilizes Excalibur 
Datasource? The package needs some docs.

Also, is there anyone who has used both datasource and DBCP 
(http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/dbcp/) who might be able to give a 
little comparison of the two?
