It appears we need to make a new LogKit release because of the Closeable
interface introduced. Are there any changes that need to be made to
this library in the near future?

We should probably Mavenize it now, and release it.

On a related note, how does everyone feel about working with the Log4J team's next Gen project so that both our concerns regarding logging and Log4J's concerns are properly handled.

I think it would go a long way for intergroup communication and teamwork
which is what Apache is all about, and would help the Log4J cause. As
time goes on, I find it harder and harder to justify maintaining LogKit.
Once upon a time (for the space of a couple of months) LogKit was the
only available Apache logger. Over time both projects have learned from
each other, and have become closer and closer in design.

How about completing the job?

Sounds good. Don't have any free time but its a topic I would like to track and help out where I can.

Cheers, Steve.
